I have been using Greymatter for a couple of years. It serves my purposes: Thanks!
I was thinking, today, as I "battle" the spammers: What would you think if we published somewhere the IPs that each of us ban? Would that help anyone?
Thanks- Dave Shogren

I don't have enough knowledge to put forth a good opinion on this. On the one hand, it seems like a great resource to share. Like a community blacklist.
However, I always wonder about the ip addresses that I ban. If they are spoofed, then I am banning a legitimate address. So it seems like some research or checking should be going into the banned addresses. However, I don't think the google web crawler's addresses change much, so thats a good one to have on the list.
However, if it was a problem for someone, its usually pretty easy to contact a blog owner. So I go back and forth on this one.

Thank you for the comeback. I understand the concern (about "good" addresses). I, likewise, am by no means an expert in this arena; I would guess the spammers get a new address on the fly. I have decided to leave the page they are attacking most recently in-place and capture the addresses for my info, anyway.
The "Weblog/BLOG" area is of interest to me at the present time for a few reasons -- and, I appreciate having the Greymatter setup available. Thanks.
So far, I don't see a pattern in the addresses.
If something comes forward that I think is of interest I will get back to this forum entry. Otherwise, consider the issue "closed".
Thanks, again and Regards, Dave Shogren
