this is an old minor annoyance I just can't figure out.
When adding new entries, I used to be able to hit CTRL+Shift+A to make a link. It stopped working a while back, nothing happens... I've upgraded to the latest version and the problem still stands. A fresh separate installation works fine, but I want to keep my entries... I know it's not my computer since the problem isthe same no matter where I am... is anyone else having this issue?

Hmm, thats wierd that the upgrade didn't fix it but a fresh does. History is that it was removed (by previous developer) and I put it back in.
If you are comfortable looking at the html source, you should be able to see a javascript function for 'gmshortcutkeys' on your 'Add a new entry' and 'Edit entry' pages. Does that function appear on your upgraded installation?
Also, the feature only works on Windows machines for now (as did the original).

hmm, that tells me your gm-library.cgi file might be out of date. You could make a backup of your old, then copy over the gm-library.cgi from the 'fresh install' and see if it works. Also, if you look at the top of your current gm-library.cgi file, it should have "# Greymatter 1.7.2" as the second line.

uploaded a fresh gm_library.cgi, chmodded, & everything else works, but still nothing... is there anything that I may have messed with as an inexperienced installer? I remember messing with this installation quite a bit before getting it up and running back when 1.3 was the current version.

Basically, there isn't any configuration needed for this to work. You have to have IE 4 or greater on Windows. If you have the correct gm-library.cgi, then when you view the source of the add/edit enty screens, you should see the javascript function 'gmshortcutkeys'. You might try to copy over the gm-library.cgi that works, from the fresh install. When I checked your blog at www.lg3.com/cgi-bin/lg3blog/gm.cgi I could see that you have Gm 1.7.1, in which this feature was missing (it was removed from 1.3.1 to 1.7.1).
