Hello everyone... I've been having some problems with my Greymatter for about 2 months, after having used it since July of 2004 with no problems. Sometimes when I log on, an error will come on saying that gm-comments.cgi is missing... so I have to go and reset the CHMOD. Everything will be fine for a day or so, and then it will do it again. What gives? What can I do to make this stay set all the time? Thanks in advance, Courtney Lee www.courtneylee.ca

Hmm, what version of GreyMatter are you using?
I might suspect the code, but if you didn't change it 2 months ago when you starting having issues, it seems unlikely to be the source of your problems.
If you are hosting your site through a company, I might ask their tech support if they might be changing the permissions on your files? I would guess an exernal influence is at work.
GreyMatter does actually try to chmod the files itself to determine if it can do so (weird huh?). If necescery I could post instructions for commenting out those lines of code, just in case GM is shooting itself in the foot somehow.

I was using 1.3 I think. I tried to update it to 1.3.1, but it still didn't work. It appears to be deleting the comment file from my directory, it's the strangest thing.
I'm starting to think I mat have to re-install the whole thing. Is there a way to do this while keeping all my old entries?

Yeah, this isn't too hard. Basically you want to follow the upgrade instructions in the install guide. The files you really want to make a copy/backup of is your 'archives' directory (or whatever it's named) and the following files: gm-config.cgi, gm-templates.cgi, gm-authors.cgi.
