Hi group
I run a weblog for 5 years now and everything works fine. After a recent server change, I had to change the configuration and the site works fine again, except for the rebuilding option
I can rebuild everything separately, except for the archive log and the 'rebuild everything' option. I get a 500 error and all the archives are gone after that.
My question:
* is there a reason for the 500 error after a server change? * and a solution?
But..
* what is the difference between the 'rebuild archive entries' and the 'archive log files'option? I can see that the archives are being rebuilt after pressing the rebuild archive entries
Do I need the other options at all?
Thanks for your help

One is the page that shows all the archive entries (the summary page), while the other is the individual log entries. Inside your archive directory there are the cgi files that are like 00000001.cgi. When you rebuild it will create a corresponding 00000001.html (or whatever your configs say to end the files in).
After you get the 500 error, what is the first and last 00...html files do you see?

Thanks for your reply. The cgi as well as the html files are still there and untouched. The archive files are lost.
Is there a difference between rebuild everything and rebuild archive entry files? That was the archive files are rebuilt again?
Thanks so much for your help

Rebuild everything should rebuild the archive files.
I got confuzzled there about the entry files. So do any of the archive files get rebuilt? If you have a lot of files, you might get a request timeout when rebuilding the log archives, but the process should still run and finish eventually.
