hello,
i am trying to configure greymatter version 1.7.2.3 and i get this error message when running the diagnostics:
Can't create files in /var/www/sites/hendler.net/steven/lemur/gm/archives. Make sure the entries/archives path is correctly configured and that this directory is CHMODed to 777.
i am using windows xp and i don't know what perl is? i have the archives folder CHMODed to 777, and i'm using ipswitch ws_ftp. for some reason, when i CHMOD things it often switches back; does anyone know how to stop that? please help! i've used greymatter before but i don't know what the problem is this time.

Steven, First, I would do it rename gm-index.html in the gm folder to index.html Second, you do not need the doc files on the web server, see list below - gm_changelog.txt
- gm_cookbook.html
- gm_dev_guide.html
- gm_install.html
- gm_manual.html
Third, copy a blank file to the archives/ folder name it index.html Now, try it again. Enjoy, Carlos

Steven, Looks like you are almost there, now you need to set your file permissions. You will need to use Windows Explorer to set them. Check out this link www.uwec.edu/help/WinXP/perm-estab.htmIt will walk you through the steps to do this. Good Luck, Carlos

CHMOD is a Unix and Linux command, but Windows does not know how to do that.
