Please help us get an idea of the what versions of GreyMatter are out there. This will help us with GM releases by showing us which versions might be upgraded from.
I know there were 1.2 and 1.3 variants (a,b,c ... I think), just choose the closest version. This poll should be open to anyone.

The upgrade code is nightmarish, but I sounds like I can't just assume everyone will be coming from 1.3.1

Hi Coldstone,
I think that you are right, we cannot simply assume that people will upgrade from the pevious version. I think that there are options though to make the upgrade simpler for us. This maybe to force an update first to 1.3.1 and then for "new" upgrades to start from this point. The other option is to make sure that any upgrade will always work with the older versions..:-(
cheers

I can image Pete: Yeah, I think we can kinda do that in the code, to leave all the upgrade stuff and start with sections that are if( version == 1.3.1 ) or something. I think it will be hard to test the older versions, since I don't know where we would get them from.

Hi Coldstone,
I agree, if someone is on an older version then they can upgrade to 1.3.1 first and then from there upgrade. Its a common practice to force users to upgrade to a key version first.
This means that "we" can start with a clean slate.
cheers

Hi everyone, I decided to install this great program on a new server. My original log was installed in 2004 or earlier not sure what version but I do have a copy of the zip file if anyone needs it (my big computer is waiting for a new MB so can't quite get to it yet). This has to be the best most trouble free software I have ever installed ... it was even pretty much a snap to configure it just as I wanted. I am glad someone is keeping this great software up ... thank you so very much. I want 1 or 2 new logs so will start with a clean slate. I did have a problem on the old log ... not with the program itself but with people who would come on the board and place their porno advertisement in the comments. I finally simply shut down the comments. I hope the new version has a section where people who want to make comments have to go thru a security check plus have a verified email as a member to post anything. Good luck and again thank you, Kat
