Hello again, Still having trouble with my new installation. I have run the diagnostics check several times and keep getting this error: Can't save the file "/home/fhlinux147/r/rhysbaker.com/blog/archives/gm-testfile.txt". Please make sure that directory to save the file is CHMODed to 777 and that the file is CHMODed to 666. Also try running Diagnostics & Repair from the Configuration screen. The directory is 777 and I created a file called gm-testfile.txt and CHMODED it to 666- Nothing worked, I still got the same error. I found a thread on this forum with the same problem their advice was to create a blank index.html file in the directory and CHMOD that to 666 and run the diagnostics. I did this and STILL got the same error!! If I try and post a new entry I get this message: Can't save the file "/home/fhlinux147/r/rhysbaker.com/blog/archives/00000007.cgi". Please make sure that directory to save the file is CHMODed to 777 and that the file is CHMODed to 666. Also try running Diagnostics & Repair from the Configuration screen.Similar story really. I just dont seem to be getting anywhere. Aaaaaagh, its driving me mad! Can anyone help please? Rhys. www.rhysbaker.com

First, you should delete the file gm-testfile.txt. That is a file that Greymatter creates and deletes to test if it can write to your archive directory. The error is saying that it can't write to it, so I would guess its one of two things. Either your path is wrong or the directory isn't actually writable.
Where is your cgi directory? If its at the same level as your blog directory, you may need to also chmod the 'blog' directory to 777.
Last, if you have been able to succesfully create a new entry yet, then you will need to fix your gm-counter.cgi. It looks like its working, because it thinks you have posted at least 7 times, but if you don't have cgi files 00000001 through 00000007, Greymatter will be unhappy. So once Diagnostics and Repair runs fine, you should clear out your gm-counters.cgi file.
