hello, firstly I apologise if this is an easy question to answer! I am VERY new to greymatter, I am running it with a view to setting up a new photoblog. But how on earth do I upload an image??!!! Cheers for your time, Rhys www.rhysbaker.com

No worries, everyone starts out as new at some point.
On the admin menu, you should see a link that says, 'Upload Files'. Click on that and then choose your file to upload.

GM 1.8.2
As I was testing some column widths with pictures I was copying the code under the posted picture and then pasting it into an existing entry. What I noticed is that there is { {popup foo bar123x123} } in the code and is then displayed in the entry.

That is something that changed with 1.8.2. If the entry has the popup tag, it should get converted when you save the entry. Did you rebuild your files? Also, can you post a link to an example?

This is the code that is displayed below the picture when a picture is uploaded and the three following buttons.
<img border="0" src="http://www.islandguardian.com//test/archives/SeVille.jpg" alt="SeVille (39k image)" height="186" width="125" /> {{popup foo bar125x186}}SeVille</a>
I just wanted to add the picture to a existing entry so I copied and pasted the displayed code into the entry. The result is the picture with the {popup foo bar125x186} following the image. Easy enough to fix by deleting it (for no popup) or changing foo bar to file name and title (for popup), not sure if that is the intended code to be posted when posting an image.

hmm, that is definitely not the intended functionality. I will look into it and fix. It is supposed to create a link that will open in a target window (popup).

My confusion resulted from the fact that the page was giving '{popup foo bar...' (with double brackets). I thought that this was an example you made up, not the actual text you were seeing. Now that I have tested on my local machine I see the issue.
Instead of 'foo bar' it should have real values relating to the name of the file uploaded. There is a workaround for this and it will be fixed in 1.8.3. To work around the issue, choose one of the two buttons, to include as popup or as new entry and you will be taken to a new entry with the correct code.
My apologies for this oversight and thank you for catching this error.

With so many 'foo bar's out there, I can understand the confusion.
