I keep getting this error message (what my page tells me):
Error Notice Can't create files in /public_html/blog/past. Make sure the entries/archives path is correctly configured and that this directory is CHMODed to 777.
My path is copied straight from my ftp program (I use Core FTP) and have checked and rechecked my CHMOD settings for folders and files. I can't figure out what is wrong with this.
I noticed at the top of the page I get one of those "Content-type: text/html" lines written out. Is there something wrong with the gm.cgi file?
Any help is appreciated. :)

The "Content..." message is an artifact from some continuing code changes.
I think the issue is that your ftp program is tell you the local path, instead of the absolute path. See if you can find the full path from the program, or run cwd, or ask your host what the path is.
For example, if my "archive" directory is in "/users/coldstone/blog/archives", when I log in with my ftp program, it will just say "/blog/archives", instead of the full path "/users/coldstone/blog/archives". Because the program assumes I know I am in "users/coldstone/".
