i've used GM for years now, but throughout these years, i've deleted it and reinstalled it as my site saw fit (i like deleting my sites, heh ). however, i've always kept my previous archives, and i was wondering if there's an easy way to upload these entries without messing up the current ones - would i have to rename each one? thanks!

you mean, you want to integrate entries from seperate installations into the newest installation? Its possible, but the amount of work would depend on how many entries you have. Gm expects several things: - that the files appear sequentially. So, it wants 00000001.cgi through whatever.
- the name of the file matches the id in the file. So if you have a file 00000001.cgi and you want to change it to 00000100.cgi, you have to change the very first line of the file from '1|...' to '100|...'.
- the files should occur chronologically. If you have an old 00000001.cgi file from 2004, then you have to make sure it comes before any files before 2005, etc.
You'll also have to be careful to only edit you files in text mode.

unfortunately, i was hoping for an easier, alternative method; my entries date back from 2003, so i don't think i'm going to attempt this at the risk of interfering with current files. thanks for the help!
