Hello, I've been using version 1.3.1 for a while now. And all of a sudden my entries won't post or close. I also have a problem rebuilding, performing the repair, etc. Maybe it's the old version, I never updated because I wanted my archives...I'm using Windows XP btw. Thanks for any help.

FYI, you won't lose your changes if you update/upgrade. I think you might have an issue with one of your files, like a character that GreyMatter doesn't like. If you make a copy of your archive folder for backup, then you can delete out all the .html files (or whatever line ending you use). Then if you do a 'reuild all' you can see how far GreyMatter gets when rebuilding. If you don't get any files built, I would suspect that you have an issue with your gm-config.cgi or gm-templates.cgi. buppie posted a utility to handle the window's line endings: greymatterforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=gmtroubleshooting&action=display&thread=1170036630&page=1Just to reiterate though, with windows, you have to be very careful when you modify a file, be sure to 'save as text'. Or use a good editor that will handle stuff like that such as ultraedit ( www.ultraedit.com/ unfortunately, its not free).

I use Notepad++ notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm to edit all my cgi files and it is free. It can change the line endings for you. But normally if you transfer your files in text mode with a good FTP program. It will take care of the line endings for you. Notepad++ will also show you all special characters, which may be your problem.

Thank you. I'll try those. I run a t.A.T.u. fansite and somebody used cyrillic in an entry title - that's probably why.

That could do it. Hopefully one day Gm will be smarter about handling special characters.
