Hello, I'm searching for some help-
This is my first time using greymatter. I'm trying to install it to post updates to my site but I'm having a problem. I can't seem to upload the cgi file "gm-counter.cgi" to my server. Something about restrictions;
"Request denied. Verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation"
So when I go to /gm.cgi this is what shows up.
"Error Notice gm-counter.cgi is missing. Please upload this file to the same directory as all the other Greymatter cgi files, and make sure you CHMOD it to 666."
Can someone help and explain?
Thanks- Christina.

Thats really strange. Sounds like an issue with your webhost. I had trouble uploading files that were empty (but gm-counter.cgi should have some data, just not much) and I had to create the files on the server by hand.
Were you able to upload any other files? Can you check the space on your account (maybe you ran out of room, but seems like you would get a different error)?
You might try creating the file on your server, be sure the name and permissions are correct. The contents of the file should be:
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
If you create the file on the server, gm.cgi should then be happy. Write back if you still have trouble.

Thanks for replying~ I have uploaded other files, and have plenty of disk space. I tried what you said, creating the file, however it still won't accept and save the file. "Permission denied in /usr/local/ndn/web/webftp/includes/filesystem.inc.php on line 637."

Have you been able to upload anything else since you got this error? I wonder if this might be an issue to send to your system administators. That permission denied seems like a bad error if you are working in your directory, since you should have complete control there. I wish I could be more helpful The only thing I can think of is if you can upload a different file, then change the name and modify the contents to match the code above. It seems like a long shot.

Maybe the transfer of that file failed the first time for some reason and the transaction was never closed.
You might try renaming the file then ftp the file in text mode to your web server. After the transfer rename the file back to the gm-counter.cgi
If the web server says the file already exist then try unlinking or deleting that file name then try the transfer again.
