I recently installed GM 1.8.1 and for some reason everything works EXCEPT when I try to save the template. It sounded similar to the post down on this page, but it's a different error. I haven't inputed anything yet but for some reason just pressing save makes an error page pop up saying:
Forbidden You don't have permission to access /fly/cgi-bin/gm.cgi on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
However, when running diagnostics and repair and all that, everything works. The CHMODS are correct, and all the folders are in order.
I use Windows XP, but I don't know the Perl version. I am hosted, I don't have my own domain. Thanks in advance for your help.

This sounds identical to issues where the host is scanning for certain words in a request. This is easy to test.
Try removing the text from the template fields and save (you can reinstall the original templates easily). If you can save the empty templates, then its not Greymatter, but your webhost. They are looking for a key word and then not letting you run the Greymatter application.

I deleted everything and it worked. I guess this means I can't use Greymatter, right? :/

It depends. If you can find the offending word you can see if you can create your templates without using that word (I am guessing its 'script' or 'javascript'). However, that is a workaround and the bigger issue is your web hosting company.
If you are paying for your webhost, then you should bring this upto them. This is not acceptable that they are preventing scripts from running that receive a post with a certain word in it. While changing hosts may see like a drastic measure, if they refuse to listen to you, the customer, you should be concerned.
