At the top of my entry, all I want is it to say how many comments there are and the link to post a comment. What's the variable?

The variable for the number of comments for an entry is {{commentslink}} and the one for the page link is {{pagelink}} so you might use them like this:
<p class="post-by">Posted by {{authorsmartlink}} and has {{commentslink}} [<a href="{{pagelink}}" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent link to this entry">Permalink</a>]</p>

This is driving me nuts. When I use a link with {{pagelink}} as the address, I just get an error page cannot be found thing. All I want is for it to say 20 comments (or however many) and you click on that text to post a comment. You know? I'm so confused!!!! AH! I had greymatter a while ago on my other domain and I don't remember it being this hard lol.

OK then you do not need the pagelink just use the comment link variable
{{commentslink}}
It will say there are "X comments" but it is also linked there.

The div layer that the comment link is supposed to be in is there but there is no text. Take a look, www.pregnant dogy-girl.com, it is supposed to be right under the date. BTW how do I get the month to be in alpha instead of numeric?

It's still doing it! is the *b* word censored??? Must be. Ok well my site is the b word with a y at the end -girl.com so it's itchy-girl.com with a b at the beginning.

If you check in the
Editing Karma & Comments-Related Templates
under
{{commentslink}}
you should see something like this
[<a href="{{commentspostlink}}">{{commentstatussmart}}</a>]
so inside your entry template placing {{commentslink}} should do what you want.
If you would like, attach your gm-template.cgi file to a post and I will look at it. If it is bigger than 11kb I will give you an email.

I'm sorry I'm kinda slow today. How do I attach something to a post? Or I can email it to you like you said. I'm just sooo confused.
