Trying to install 1.7.2 and get Error 500 in IE and %1 is not a valid Win32 application in Firefox when trying to access gm.cgi
I have 1.3.1 running just fine, but can't get 1.7.2 going. I'm running Windows 2000 with Perl 5.8.8
I saw where the executable check doesn't work for Windows in the 1.7.1 thread; checked Gm_Storage.pm and saw that line is commented out but made the change anyway, just because I'm at a loss.
Checked permissions multiple times and compared the install to how I did the 1.3.1 installs and cannot see any difference.
Nothing shows up in the Event log or IIS log files. I am the ISP and have full access to the server.

That is a really strange error. I was wondering if it could be non gm related. I found this when I googled that phrase: support.microsoft.com/kb/812486Are you able to create a printenv script (I can post if you need one, but just look through ENV and print) and run that in the same directory as gm 1.7.2?

Okay, it was a setup error. I made:
#!g:\perl\bin\perl
print "Content-type: text/html\n\n";
print <<END; <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Hello There</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY> Hello, world! </BODY> </HTML> END
and had the same problem, but when I run the script from a known working dir I get a script error. (granted I'm no programmer) But this would indicate that I missed something in the setup.
Looking closer at the setup for the existing site I found that cgi is bound to perl, but on the new site I didn't set that up. Somehow that missed my Windows setup 'how to' I have.
I'm now logging in. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
Basically the Win32 error is that .cgi was not registered for that site and Windows in its infinite wisdom just couldn't figure out a better error.

Yeah, I have a list of 'unhelpful' error messages from a variety of sources. Glad to hear its working.
