Thanks, this info will help me trouble shoot. Had you run Diagnostics and Repair? The last counter file is interesting because 'opentotal' should match the 'entrytotal' value.

Yes I've tried to run Repair, but it doesn't seem to do anything with this issue. I've also tried to manually change open, but that doesn't seem to work either.

What happens when you manually try to change the open value? Also, try clearing out the gm-counter.cgi and doing a Diagnostic and repair. If there are semi-legit values, it won't repair itself.
Also, you mentioned {karmaform} doesn't work, but I don't see that as a legitimate tag. Where did you read about karmaform? I see in the gm_manual there is a {entrykarmaform}.
Update I think I see it, are you going by the templates page? That is definitely a typo. When you run into something like this, search through the gm_manual.

Yeah, found the note in the manual and yes I was just copying the code from the template page for {entrykarmaform}. When I manually changed the open/closed so they totaled the entrytotal and to reflect what is really showing on the edit entry page, I get the same result with the Rebuilding just staying at 0% without any other errors. (previous post I was using another GM install so numbers have changed) entrytotal=3 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=3 closedtotal=0 I set all open/closed/total to 0 and did a repair. The total was changed to: (I did this twice once with no closed entry and again with one closed entry same results) entrytotal=3 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=0 closedtotal=0 And the rebuild was still stuck at 0%. I went and closed an entry and then found the following. I also ran repair and it did not change these values. entrytotal=3 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=-1 closedtotal=1 I then added a new entry and found. entrytotal=4 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=0 closedtotal=0 and another entry entrytotal=5 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=0 closedtotal=0 and then closed two entries entrytotal=5 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=-2 closedtotal=2 Then opened all three closed entrytotal=5 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=2 closedtotal=-1 Then added another entry (I was expecting 0's on this but...) entrytotal=6 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=1 closedtotal=-1 So I added yet another entrytotal=7 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=1 closedtotal=-1 I'm going to create another install and see if I get it to fail as well... Fresh install with no modifications other than paths. Rebuild still working, but interesting counters entrytotal=1 commenttotal=1 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=0 closedtotal=0 archivetotal=0 Added entry entrytotal=2 commenttotal=1 stayattopentry=0 opentotal=0 closedtotal=0 archivetotal=0 At this point I scratched my head and said "hurumph" Went back to my test site and disabled 'Keep monthly/weekly log archives' and have no issue. Although I expected that as it doesn't try and build anything. I went back in and changed it from weekly to monthly and re-enable log archives and it worked. Set it back to weekly and problem is back. Then I went to the fresh install and changed it from monthly to weekly and found the same problem there. So now I have a working work around, and after all this I may not use the monthly or weekly archive, but that isn't my call. However, not sure why the counters are doing what they are doing.

Thanks for the information, this is very helpful. Looks like new entries are not updating the counters correctly (and rebuild for that matter).
I just wanted to clarify though. It looks like in one instance, the Monthly archives work, but then in a fresh one, monthly doesn't work?

In both cases on my test site and fresh install the weekly does not work, but the monthly does work.
I have changed my live site over to monthly to keep it going without issues.

Ahh, ok. I can now replicate on a local fresh install. This is something I will fix for 1.8.3. Thanks for finding out how to recreate this and for finding the issue with the gm-counter.cgi (which may be unrelated, but still needs to be addressed).
