does gm have this? hi. my friend is wondering if it's possible to have the url of the blog entries to display the title of the blog itself. so that you might have a url like this www.yoursite.com/gm/archives/howtomakepie.htminstead of www.yoursite.com/gm/archives/00000120.htmlmy friend says this could improve traffic or crawlability and be more search engine friendly. i don't know if GM already has this and i overlooked it. or if it's easy to do or if it's something i can do myself. however, if you ever consider this an important feature, would be cool if GM could do this on its own.

Hi, this is something that has been requested and thought about. It is in theory doable, it would just be an extensive change since gm absolutely assumes that all the files are 00000001.html through X.html.
However, as I am writing this, I realize that the name would really only have to be on the generated html page. For example, you would have 00000001.cgi and it would be used to generate howtomakepie.htm (ala WP). In some ways, if only the generated page was cared about it would be easier than I maybe originally thought.
However (again), there are lots of places in the code where it should be made more centralized. For example, whenever gm needs to figure out what to call the generated file (for example 00000001.html), it just gets the number of that entry, pads with zeros, adds the archive path, and its off. Every single time. No centralized getFilename method, so of course, everywhere the file maybe generated, we have to modify.
Good news is that this kind of code reorganization is my next priority and that this feature may become a reality in 2008. There is a lot I would love to add though, but we are our way.
P.S. This is really a feature request, so I moved the thread. No worries, I just like to keep things organized.
