The comments link was still showing up when I entered my first post, but after I entered my second post I got error messages about files not being in the right place. So I fixed that and rebuilt all my files.
Now the comments link isn't showing up anymore on any of my posts. I haven't changed any of the commentslink templates, I've just changed my main index templates. Can someone please help me out?
I'm using GM 1.7.4, my OS is Windows XP, and my Perl ver. is 5.6.1.

Is the link thats not showing on the main index? Can you post the template you changed? Also, if you have a page that can be viewed, can you post the url?

It looks like you might not have comments turned on. This might prevent the comment link from showing.
Your templates look ok. Can you post your {{commentslink}} template?
For now you can also use: <a href="{{pagelink}}" title="{{monthmonth}}/{{dayday}}/{{year}}: {{entrysubject}}">link</a>
To get a link directly to your archive page.

Thanks for replying. I had the comments turned on, but I had turned off the karma voting. I went back to the configuration and turned on both; that seemed to work. Thanks a million for helping me out, sorry if it was a nuisance.

Don't worry, the forums are for questions.
That is something I can look into. Perhaps there is an issue with only doing comments.

Hi! I'm having the same problem himawari had back then. I tried to fix it the same way she did but it didn't work. My Greymatter version is 1.8.2, my OP is Windows XP Professional and I don't know my perl number, how can I find it out?
Thanks in advance :)

So, do you have karma and comments turned on? Can you post the the template that has the comments link?

Yes, both are turned on. The template is the following:
<h1>{{entrysubject}}</h1> <p class="nc">{{weekdaylower}}, {{monthword}} {{dayappend}} {{yearyear}} - {{smartentrymood}} - {{smartentrymusic}}</p>
<p>{{entrymainbody}} </p> <p align=right>{{authorsmartlink}}; {{dayday}}/{{monthmonth}}/{{year}} ({{hourhour}}:{{minuteminute}} {{ampm}}) - {{commentslink}}</p> <br><br><br><br>

Looks good, can you post your {{commentslink}} template? Perhaps that is missing something.

[<a href="{{commentspostlink}}" onmouseover="window.status='Add a comment to this entry';return true" onmouseout="window.status='';return true">{{commentstatussmart}}</a>]
I didn't change it at all from the instalation template.

What does the link show on your side? Is the link wrong or the number of comments incorrect?
Can you post a url to your site so I can look at it?

I found the problem, the real issue was that I had the "Generate pages for individual entries?" disabled, so it wouldn't post a link for comments xD sorry about bothering about that. But now that I fixed that, a real problem appears and I don't have any idea of what's about. Then I perform diagnostics and repair, this appears:
"Software error:
Invalid "digit" argument given to _padDigits: Gm_Utils::gmWarn() at line 334 in libs/Gm_Utils.pm (Gm_Utils) Gm_Utils::_padDigits() at line 281 in libs/Gm_Utils.pm (Gm_Utils) Gm_Utils::toTwoDigit() at line 3708 in libs/Gm_Core.pm (Gm_Core) Gm_Core::collateComments() at line 2330 in libs/Gm_Core.pm (Gm_Core) Gm_Core::getEntryVariables() at line 251 in libs/Gm_Core.pm (Gm_Core) Gm_Core::reconstructEntrylist() at line 5103 in gm.cgi (main) main::doDiagnosticRepair() at line 3988 in gm.cgi (main) main::doConfigs() at line 167 in gm.cgi (main) main::handleRequest() at line 94 in gm.cgi (main). Error originated at at libs/Gm_Utils.pm line 418."
what is that supposed to mean? i'll be incredibly grateful if you could help me.

Basically, you have an entry that is causing problems for Greymatter. Its most likely an entry with missing data. Before you run Diagnostics and Repair, try deleting the contents of your gm-entrylist.cgi file. If there is some bad data in there, it might be rebuilt correctly.
However, if the bad data is in the entry file, it may still have problems.
