is there any easy way to change the date of entries? i edited the date in the entry's cgi file (in archives dir), then also changed the date in the gm-entrylist.cgi (in cgi-bin dir). but afterward was not able to rebuild (everything seemed to get messed up) so had to revert to backup files

pak: you will only have to change the cgi files in the archives directory. Once that is done, delete the contents of the gm-entrylist.cgi and then run Diagnosis and Repair. This will regenerate the file with the new dates.
However, all the dates must be in chronological order. If you have entries 1, 2, 3, then Gm assumes that 1 is before 2 and 2 is after 1 but before 3 and that 3 is after everything.
Also, when editing files by hand, be sure to edit them as ascii files, and to save as text. Otherwise, funky characters will be inserted into your files (Word is famous for this) and will mess up Greymatter.

Thanks! That worked pretty well. Had an issue with a couple of the entry files rebuilding, but I recreated them and it all works fine now

Actually, I found a new problem that might be related. I saw some references to calendar issues, but nothing like this. Some of the calendar months are incorrectly displayed. It's odd, but (for example) July 2007 is incorrect (the calendar shows July 1 as Friday), but then August 2007 and September are correct (which means there is a gap between end of July and beginning of August). October 2007 thru February 2008 (I didn't check beyond) are incorrect: for example, February 14, 2008 is shown as a Tuesday I can turn off the calendar easy enough, but the day of the week still shows in the monthly archives for each entry.

Hi Pak, Thanks for your update. I have checked the same months on my blog - www.petefinnigan.com/weblog/entries/index.html - which is fine for the same months. I wonder if yor system clock is out? - can you try running a date command on your server? cheers Pete
