500 Internal Server Error

Ok. First off I'm a script idiot but somehow I've installed GM and I've managed to get it to look exactly how I want it to. Everything matches like it's supposed to.

However, as soon as I make the index file a php file, I get a 500 internal server error. It works FINE as an html file but I need it to be a php file because of a script I use in the index page that calls the last 5 added pics from my photo gallery.

It doesn't make sense to me that everything works fine until I do that. I've tried doing a rebuild to see if that works, and I've even tried taking out the photo call script on the page to see if that was it but I'm still getting the error. I've checked the file properties as well.

I just... I don't get it. Help
