Warning: This is not easy to install.
Since I couldn't find a captcha modification and I do not want my blog to turn into a link directory for spam sites, I hacked in a captcha system into Greymatter.
Attached is a ZIP file that contains a patch for "gm-comments.cgi" and a new file called "gm-captcha.cgi". This mod depends on Authen::Captcha which you can install via CPAN. Template changes are explained in "template-changes.txt"
You will need to know how to use .patch files to install this. Also, both files will need to have "$output_dir" modified in order for the script to work.
Unfortunately there is no "readme.txt" and I am not providing support for it. I don't have the time.

Thank you very much for this mod. This is great. I was planning to add captcha to my comment moedration queue mod which I will hopefuilly get back to evry soon. I have been writing a number of presentations and speaking at conferences for my day job over the last 6 weeks or so and had little spare time for gm -
I have downloaded your mod and will have a detailed look through and will install it against 1.3.1 as well if i have time as i think a lot of people are likely to be still on 1.3.1
cheers
Pete

Hi here,
I have try to install the captcha mod, but without success My problem is that my provider is on linux with a cpanel for the one who knows that kind of provider...
But I'm running on windows OS so I didn't find a way to patch a file with windows.
I found this on the net: http://drupal.org/node/14231 It explain a way but I try without success.
My problem is to use .patch files to install. Reading the txt file I guess patching will add some lines to the gm-comments.cgi file...
Is there anyone who have try this mod? Or anyone on linux can patch me the file gm-comments.cgi and post it here?
In any case gave me some news.
thanks guys

Not sure how to patch a windows file, but Greymatter does have a similar functionality. Under the configs enable "Commenter Verification". And if you are worried about spam, try both "Verify Site Comment/Karma Vote Posted From" and "Comment Throttling" options.
After turning on the "Verify Site" option, I haven't had any spam.

Hi coldstone, thx for your quick reply
I didn't explain well, I'm on windows XP and the file is Linux/Unix so I can't patch from windows...
I'm still using greymatter v1.3.1 so I guess those options are on a newer version.
I found another way from post: http://greymatterforum.proboards82.com/i....read=1156275178
The topic ends without knowing if the problem of the bad posting comments still there, but I'm trying out that way and until a few posts all seems to be fine.
BTW if anyone are in a UNIX/Linux system and knows how to use a *.patch file please reply here.
Thanks again guys
