What traps to expect in updating 1.7.3 to 1.8.2?

While the OS and machine has been upgraded many times under it, my GM is still at 1.7.3. It's running on Fedora Core 11 presently but am thinking when we go FC13 GM should get an update too.

Does anyone have any tips for known pitfalls, or even can aim me to some text on the update process?
